Habana – Brunch Buffet

LOCATED IN THE IRVINE SPECTRUM, CAlFORNIA EXECUTIVE CHEF ALEX MORENO Takes place only on Sunday’s at 10AM-3PM I find it hard to find a great brunch buffet in Orange County California. I’ve been to many and always left let-down. But to great news, Habana has just opened it’s newest location at The Irvine Spectrum. A luxurious brunch buffet with menu inspired by Cuban-fare. The restaurant itself was bright and airy with a sweet romantic ambiance. As you sit down, you pass by the amazing brunch bar where they serve endless delectables all for grabs with their brunch buffet. Grid Photos courtesy of…

Mr. Holmes Bakehouse Grand Opening in Larchmont Village

Mr. Holmes Bakehouse is a one of a kind bakery with a sweet selection of baked goods. While they have a couple locations open around in California, they finally opened up a new one in Larchmont Village! (248 N Larchmont Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 90004) Had a great time trying out pastries such as Green Tea Matcha Croissants, Strawberry Jelly Jam Croissants, Savory Danish’s with Bacon, and so much more. What I liked most about their pastries was that they wasn’t too sweet even though they had a lot of other sweet ingredients (such as the matcha, jam, chocolate, etc.) that were integrated. The pastries were light and crispy and most importantly I could tell they were extremely fresh. Next time you’re in town, I recommend that you stop by Mr. Holmes for a box!

YSABEL West Hollywood, CA

YSABEL (West Hollywood, CA) 945 N Fairfax Ave West Hollywood, CA 90046 (323) 366-2940 Ysabel is a lively cocktail bar with a mixology focus that serves out of a back and front bar, plus an outdoor patio. It’s a little hard to find the restaurant at first because there is no giant sign with the name on it. It is a plain white building. Valet parking is $7. We had reservations at 8PM (I recommend making a reservation, we went on a Thursday night and it was really packed.) The venue itself is dark, and dimly lit with string lights…

My Favorite Porridge Restaurant in Los Angeles

Mountain Cafe 3064 W. 8th St. Los Angeles, CA 90005 (213) 487-7615 (Abalone Porridge – $8.25) – Abalone and rice chowder.  I have to say this is the best porridge house in Korea town Los Angeles, hands down. For those days you can’t chew due to your new braces (i.e. like me they hurt so bad right now), or even if you are sick and can’t eat. The abalone porridge (전복죽) from Mountain Cafe (aka 산) has so much flavor especially when eaten together with seasoned jorim beef (장조림) & their signature kimchi (김치) 😍 The restaurant itself is very small and…

Starting the New 2016 Year with a Fitness Plan

01/04/2016 Hi Guys! I know I have been gone for a long long time. I actually decided to stop blogging in 2015, but with the new 2016 year coming up, I really wanted to start back at it. This time blogging more as a diary to record progress and memories this new year has to hold. First matter of business, New Year Resolutions! Yeah, yeah, they usually all fail. We’ve all been and done that before. But the key to succeeding in your goals is to create a plan and making sure you stick with it no matter what. This…

Fig & Olive on Melrose Place

Fig & Olive 8490 Melrose Place West Hollywood, CA 90069 310-360-9100 Let me start off with the ambiance of this place. I went during lunch with a friend on a Saturday. The atmosphere was light and airy. The restaurant was nicely lit from the natural sunlight outside and there were lots of well dressed people. To me it seemed like a good place for a nice date with a significant other, or a fun gossip brunch place with your girls. The staff are incredibly friendly and the service itself was great. We sat down and were given some bread with…

Meal Prep Log

I know, its already March but losing all the extra weight from the Holiday Season was really quite difficult. They say looking good is 80% of your diet and only 20% exercise. Here are some twists of recipes that I used for a unique and delicious meal prep. A whole weeks worth of meal prep. Some people can eat the same thing everyday, but I’m one of those people that CANNOT eat the exact same thing over and over. To avoid that, I incorporated different recipes and cooking styles. For the “main course” I did a mix of Lemon Pepper Chicken…

Sweet tastes of Warm Fall

Hey guys! It’s been so hot lately in California… but it is technically fall and I can’t start to explain how much I LOVE fall fashion! Keep up the fall fashion trends by wearing a long cardigan (Forever21). I kept my dress short so that I didn’t sweat from all this heat. Topped it off with a big black floppy Urban Outfitters hat to keep the sun out of my face, and wore a Royal Blue Zara purse for a pop of color! I accessorized with a Kukui Nut Necklace that I had bought from Waikiki, Hawaii to finish off this look.…

Boiling Crab Leftovers? Boiling Crab Cream Pasta!

One of my favorite foods is The Boiling Crab. I just can’t ever get enough of it. To the point I like to over order a little so I can take it home with me. I usually order the 1 pound of shrimp Triple-XXX spicy Cajun style. After I’m done with my meal the bag still has a lot of sauce left over with some shrimp so I take it to-go to make other recipes with it. You can do a lot with the leftover boiling crab sauce. I’ve mixed it into fried rice and even poured it over chicken…
